Update on my progress:
First and foremost I would like to thank everyone for their amazing support over the last few weeks. I have been inundated with cards, messages, advice, offers of help, and everything else you can imagine. I have been truthfully speechless by it all. Even when walking in the street I have had people shout out messages of encouragement, it truly has been inspiring and give...n me a massive lift. Apologies, I have tried my best to answer all of the personal messages that I received, but it all became too overwhelming to sustain. The latest news is that I am having an operation called a ‘neck dissection’ on August 27th. They will remove my lymph glands in my neck, which will hopefully stop the cancer being able to spread any further. It is another large operation, and I have been told by Poole hospital that it may hit me harder than the first, not least because it is so close to my first operation. 4-6 weeks after the operation (or when stitches come out. I’m unsure which?) I will start my course of radiotherapy. I have to go to Poole each day during the week and will get weekends to recover. I’m hoping that after all this I will return to work 100% fit and raring to go in January. To help with the recovery I am juicing every day and also having regular fruit smoothies. Special thanks to everyone who has given me books, advice, supplied equipment, or given me vegetables from their allotments. I still feel physically great, and am generally coping well. I do get emotional occasionally when thinking about some of the great friends and moments that I have shared with all the wonderful people in my life. But I guess that’s to be expected. Anyway thanks again for all the support and I will keep you updated on my progress. Dave x |
